Befriend the Blend

Blend: a mixture of different things or qualities.

To us, a blend means making something your own, without a custom cost or time frame. Whether blending vertical veneers or horizontal pavers – creating a mixture of products can turn your project from great to amazing. When designing your home or commercial space, every structure has different design elements and sometimes, a little customization is just what is needed to make the space truly it’s own. A unique and simple way to achieve this is by blending different colors, thicknesses and shapes to create your own one of a kind work of art. Mixing a veneer or paver’s shape or color can break up the straight lines and add dimension and texture. What products can be blended? The options are endless.

For vertical applications, one can blend multiple colors together of the same product, splitface is a good example of this. Often times one will blend one size splitface, such as our 3” 6” 9” blend, using both marble & travertine – being able to pick the ratio is just one more step in the customization. Two separate clients may love a Crema Eda  marble Terra travertine blend, but one client might desire a lighter coloration, 70% Crema Eda & 30% Terra, where the other client might want just a touch of light, using 80% Terra & 20% Crema Eda. There is no right or wrong blend.

Another interesting veneer blend is the selection of just one color, for example Orcca marble. As you know, each color comes in a variety of finishes & thicknesses, depending on the application for interior or exterior. Imagine taking all of one stones finishes, and blending together for an exceptional design feature. Shown below is a blend of 3 things, Orcca marble Sandblasted 1-3/16” thickness, Orcca marble Brushed 3/8” thickness & Orcca marble splitface (various thicknesses). The contrast in color creates a distinct design – however, as you get closer, you experience depth and shadows with the variance in thickness between finishes. Wow!

Horizontal blends create a divine walkway from space to space. Whether a pathway, porch or patio – blending pavers or driveway pavers adds interest to the space. Blending two colors from the same quarry, Deep Blue and Afyon Cloud for example, creates a blend without being TOO much of a contrast, they will at least have similar characteristics. Befriending the blend will make your project like no other, why be like everyone else? When the options are available to you first hand, at no additional cost or wait time, why not. Stepping outside the box can be easy and rewarding – so let’s give it a try.
