Looking for a job that would ultimately lead to my life career, I had two things in mind: constant growth and travel. That’s why, when I sat down for my interview with Moe and Heidi in January of 2015 and Moe said to me, “If you are in the same place you were six months prior, we are all failing – you should constantly be growing, and leveling up each day” I knew Marmiro Stones was the place for me. I started just answering the phones at our front desk, assisting with sample requests of the then-few sales reps we had, making labels for the warehouse, and watermarking installed photos we had in our library to learn the products and finishes. I wasn’t sure exactly where I wanted to be within the company, but what was most important was there was opportunity for growth. Then, at only nine months in, I was invited to the national ASLA Conference in Chicago with some of our team and had my first experience at a trade show. It was at that point I knew my goal was to become a sales team member.
I grew as the company did, doubling in size and tripling in territory over the last six years. Year after year our team noticed the changes Marmiro was going through, had to adapt as it happened, and learned from experiences – both pleasant and difficult. We rose to the occasion as a team coming up with exciting trade show booths, marketing materials, and mobile showrooms – standing out in the industry. Our authentic, intriguing, honest, and fun approach to selling natural stone, combined with the fact that we are Turan Bekisoglu’s extension in the US, led to people reaching out nationwide – and our distributor network blossomed from a few partners to over 50 along the East Coast and Midwest.
Opening the distribution channel to many areas allowed me to travel more and learn about other markets. Plans were made to visit each on a regular basis, and my desire to relocate grew at a more rapid pace. During my yearly evaluation in 2018, I made it clear my goal was to open Marmiro Stones in a territory down south, and it was in my mind everyday moving forward as something to work toward; I wanted to prove to myself and everyone else I had what it took.
The team at Marmiro has always supported each person’s dreams, passions, and goals. The thought behind it is if you are not happy in general, it will translate in your day to day and reflect on your work ethic. Sales team wanted to learn AutoCAD? A tutor was hired. Fabrication team ran into limited availability to be on site installing? An outside team was brought on to help. I had wanderlust and wanted to leave New Jersey? Six months later I was a North Carolina resident with a mobile showroom and inventory in a warehouse!
In January 2021, I became the fifth regional sales representative on our team. I had no idea where to begin, but nonetheless I’ve persevered and trusted my skills and knowledge. Knocking on many doors and following up on old leads from my other two Carolina colleagues, Marmiro South is becoming a force to be reckoned with, just like the areas developed north of us. We do everything in our power to surprise and impress people including bringing mobile showrooms to the client’s home or office, delivering orders ourselves to meet a deadline, and most importantly, as our #1 Core Value states, Doing The Right Thing.
